As members of our school community, we all share a common goal: to provide the best possible educational experience for our children. One of the ways we can achieve this is through active participation in the Parent and Citizens (P&C) Association.

I am writing to encourage you to consider volunteering your time and skills to support our school as part of the P&C. Your involvement is crucial for several reasons, all of which directly impact the well-being and success of our children.

First and foremost, volunteering with the P&C allows you to play an active role in shaping the educational environment in which your child learns and grows. By participating in decision-making processes and contributing to school initiatives, you have the opportunity to advocate for policies and programs that align with the needs and interests of our students. Volunteering fosters a sense of community and connection among parents, teachers, and students. By working together towards common goals, we strengthen the bonds that unite us and create a supportive network for our children to thrive within.

Additionally, volunteering provides invaluable opportunities for personal growth and skill development. Whether you have experience in fundraising, event planning, communications, or other areas, there is a place for you to contribute your talents and expertise within the P&C. Moreover, by engaging in volunteer activities, you serve as a positive role model for your child, demonstrating the importance of giving back to our community and working collaboratively towards shared objectives.

Coorparoo State School P&C is responsible for running our Tuckshop and Uniform Shop, we employ our Tuckshop Convenor (Sharnie) and our School Community Liaison Officer (Leisa) who most of you will have met through the uniform shop.

Over the years the CSS P&C has provided the following resources:

  • Airconditioning in every classroom
  • Renovation of School Library
  • Senior Playground, new section of Kijini Playground and additions to Wolffe Park Playground
  • School Desks and Chairs in Wolffe Park
  • Additional Computers, Laptops and recharging stations
  • Sound and lighting equipment in School Hall
  • Created the Lahey Studio- Art and STEM space including green screen lab.
  • and most recently new water bubblers

P&C organise multiple events throughout the year including

  • Welcome BBQ and Movie Night
  • Christmas Markets
  • School Fete
  • School Dance (including Bush Dance)
  • Trivia Night
  • School Musical
  • Spell-a-thon
  • Colour Run

The aim is to strike a balance between organising events that bring the school community together at little or no cost to our families and other activities that are more focused on  fundraising.

Our existing executive have made an amazing commitment for many years to our community. It is now time for new faces to step up. At the AGM on 12 March all executive positions will be declared vacant and a number of our current executives have indicated they are not planning to renominate. These positions are:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer

To ensure the smooth running of our P&C and to provide support and lighten the load for P&C Executive we also have:

  • Communications Secretary
  • Assistant Treasurer
  • Vice President of Fundraising and Events

Currently, we have 6 meetings a year held in the school library and via zoom, the date and time can be adjusted to suit the P&C Executive.

The outgoing Executive have created a position description and are available to chat with you about the roles, time commitment and benefits of volunteering in this capacity. They all still have children at CSS so will be available throughout the year to provide support and guidance as well.

If you are interested in finding out more information or would like to nominate for a position on CSS P&C Executive please email  sclo@coorparooss.eq.edu.au

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to working with you to make a positive impact on our children's education.
